Clean Beauty Labels Explained

We offer 14 different Clean Beauty Labels and a complete Free-Off list to enhance your product detail page and give customers all the information they seek.

CUSTOMIZATION

Pro Animal

Products with this label do not contain any animal derivatives for example beeswax or lactic acid and are Cruelty-Free. It is important to note that animal testing is still very prevalent in China and therefore, this icon will only apply to brands that are completely cruelty-free and do not undergo any Chinese animal testing.

Pro Nature

Out of all the land on the planet, there are only 4.6 billion remaining hectares of forests remaining and 1 billion of these are native forests that remain undisturbed by humans. With this icon, you can promote and celebrate products that are conscious of indigenous plant life and the earth’s natural and important gardens.

  • No Palm-Oil; to reduce excessive deforestation.

  • No Petrolatum and Paraffin as they are of fossil origin and reproduction can't keep up. (Petrolatum, Paraffinum Liquidum, Paraffin, Mineral Oil, Cera Microcristallina)

Pro Ocean

This icon celebrates products that are considerate of ingredient side effects after usage. Products with this label do not contain any of the commonly declared Micro Plastic and Sun-Filters Ingredients, or specific ingredients like Triclosan as it is said to be harmful to algae and marine life.

  • None of the commonly declared Micro Plastics

  • None of the environmentally harmful Sun-Filters (Oxybenzone, Benzophenone-1, Benzophenone-8, OD-PABA, 4-Methyl benzylidene camphor, 3-Benzylidene camphor, nano-Titanium dioxide, nano-Zinc oxide, Octinoxate, Octocrylene)

  • No Triclosan as it is said to be harmful to algae and marine life.

Vegan

This label gets displayed if the product does not contain any potentially animal-derived ingredients. Note that some ingredients can be sourced from either plants or animals.

If there is a potentially animal-derived ingredient in the product and we do not have any information on vegan certification, the product will not get the Vegan label.

Coral Safe

This is a Label similar to Pro Ocean but only focuses on the safety of Corals. Products with this Label do not contain any of the commonly declared Sun-Filters that could harm marine life nor Triclosan.

  • None of the environmentally harmful Sun-Filters (Oxybenzone, Benzophenone-1, Benzophenone-8, OD-PABA, 4-Methyl benzylidene camphor, 3-Benzylidene camphor, nano-Titanium dioxide, nano-Zinc oxide, Octinoxate, Octocrylene)

  • No Triclosan as it is said to be harmful to algae and marine life.

Waterless

  • The product does not contain the INCI: AQUA / WATER / AGUA.

Cruelty-Free

This label appears when the product and the brand have evidence have Cruelty Free Production and is marked as Cruelty-Free in the getskinmatch.com Product Database. Cruelty-Free applies to an entire brand and not individual products. Brands knowingly distributed in China are not marked as Cruelty-Free.

Micro Plastic

Products with this Label do not contain any Ingredients from the Red List of Beat the Micro Bead. The Red List contains synthetic polymers which are commonly considered to be microplastic ingredients. These include but are not limited to Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), Nylon (PA), Polyurethane, and Acrylates Copolymer.

Palm Oil Free

Does not contain any palm oil sustainably sourced or otherwise.

Organic

Products with this label are 100% Natural, GMO-Free and do no contain any synthetically sourced Ingredients.

Sensitive Skin

Products with this label do not contain any ingredients that could cause irritations on the skin or scalp and/or the Brand has evidenced for the product to be good to use with Sensitive Skin.

For All Skin Types

Similar to the Label for Sensitive Skin this Label checks for Ingredients that are good to use with Sensitive Skin or Dry Skin and also check the Brands recommendations on usage for all Skin types. Only if all applies, this label will be showen.

Fragrance-Free

This label checks for Ingredients that are used to give the product its scent and may have an irritating effect on the skin. The product may still have a natural fragrant in it.

Alcohol-Free

This label checks for Ingredients that are commonly known alcohols that may have an irritating effect on the skin.

Full Free-Off List

Additional to the Clean Beauty Labels you may want to highlight commonly known “unwanted” Ingredients that are not in a specific product. This allows customers to quickly answer some Questions about formulations they might have. Below you can find a list off all “Free-Offs” that we provide.
